Week 5&6
Week 4
Cutting glass for next 2 wall lights. Very tricky and lost the knack of cutting for a while. Loads of little cuts in my hands and lots of blood, but no plasters needed this week!
Glass cut Week 5
Copper attached to glass and some re-cutting required. Ran out of time for soldering. Half-term break next week.

Week 4
Finished the prototype wall light.
Gut remaining glass – much quicker because I took scissors & paper to cut paper templates for the remaining pieces of glass. Copper foil strip was easier than the tutor suggested, then soldering it all in place. Tagging each piece in place was useful, then fill all the gaps. Final stage is applying what looks like copper sulphate to give the shiny solder an patinated (aged) appearance.
I took it home, wired it up and lit it.

Week 3
This week I finished my sampler piece by forcing as much black putty into the H section of the lead as I could then cleaning off as much as I could. It now needs to be left about a week to harden off and I can then polish it. Very happy.
Not so happy with progress on my lamp which is why I am doing the course. I have started to cut coloured glass in triangles to fit the aperture. Its not going to be easy.
Pictures next week.
